1837 is a year of profound change in the history of Canada. In that year we became a kinder, more tolerant people but not without pain and suffering and death for many in Upper Canada and even more in Lower Canada. This story of rebellion and its aftermath is told through the eyes and heart of a young girl born into Toronto's Family Compact ruling class but having to learn about loyalty and death and love while dealing with dramatic change in her family and herself.
