Sable Antelope (Hunting with dogs) is a narration of true stories as experienced by the indigenous hunters of the Northern regions of the Limpopo province. The book is intended to tell the story of how indigenous hunters survived in the wild. It is in no way intended to encourage poaching or illegal hunting. The author of the book is Mbhazima Jackson Xivuri, a former school principal born in 1946. The book details the strategies and techniques employed by the hunters to track, trap and capture their prey for survival. These indigenous hunters historically provided for their families and survived on the fruits of nature and what was provided by the wildlife they were blessed with in their ancestral lands. Captured in this book are some amazing stories of close encounters with wild animals including buffalo, sable antelope, leopard and even the king of the jungle, the lion. Sable Antelope also explores the critical skills and knowledge required for survival in the jungle. These include, amongst other things, what to do when under attack from dangerous wild creatures and how to survive a poisonous snake bite.
