Winner - Best New Fiction - Pacific Book Awards 2015 Wealth, beauty and power. Why is it never enough? Jim and Lynn don’t question it, they just want more. In particular, each other, as much they want Jim’s wife, Teagan. Their simmering game of dominance takes a twist with the induction of Paul Schultz, a searching Everyman and scuba instructor, into their circle. Paul wants more, but he’s a rank amateur in a field of scheming professionals, and getting what he wants may well require the sacrifice of his soul. Who will get who? Who will win, and who will be punished for their sins? Who will learn, and who will be saved? Join author Holden Gerrig for a heart-pounding ride from the rainswept streets of Seattle to the sun-kissed shores of Cozumel, where secrets and lies will be dragged into the light and up to the surface, in the first book of the award-winning three-volume SAGA OF THE DIVER. Winner: Best New Fiction - 2015 Pacific Book Awards Is this book about diving? Yes, but it's also a lot more than that. It's about what is like to be a diver in a world where our desire is dampened by the worries of everyday life. I've read well over two dozen books about audacious souls defying the laws of physiology and physics as they venture into forbidding depths. Many of them were well written and I enjoyed them immensely. But I couldn't find a story showing that under the glamorous gear, lies a spouse, parent, or child, a sensible being doubting his worth as a human and confronting the tests of life. This book fills that gap. And yes, you'll be regaled with succulent narratives of diving, succulent enough to make many of my non-diving readers consider the sport. Here's your patience paying off. I try to capture the magic of being a regular human who finds escape and meaning in the addicting world of diving. A world that forges strong friendships and brings icons that reshape our lives. Holden Gerrig is a Seattle based award-winning author. His writing--praised as magnetic and visceral--focuses on the deep aspects of the human psyche and our unquenchable thirst for wisdom. Holden is passionate about the outdoors and the gifts of life and spends a significant portion of his time meditating in the escape of nature.
