In the midst of medical school studies, pursuing a lifelong dream and mission, while lying in bed, every time I looked to the right, I saw two of everything! Double vision was my first bewildering, mysterious, confusing, yet precise symptom. On that day began the unforeseen bumpy journey along the road with multiple sclerosis (MS). The path to diagnosis and treatment was neither simple nor straight-forward. The disease generated denial, then misdiagnosis. Treatment with Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM--healers, therapists, and sports), followed by allopathic medicine and rehabilitation, along with social life, are vividly chronicled. The willpower and determination to confront and battle an unpredictable intimidating illness with a desire to see only good in each day are described. Steps in treating the illness--taking chances on alternative methods of management, including dietary changes, implementing traditional medicine, followed by acknowledging rehabilitation to be a fundamental therapeutic modality--are all described. Resulting changes in social life are portrayed throughout my experience. This book portrays living with a chronic condition, ideally allowing others to be inspired and learn from my mistakes, without repeating them. Various methods of rehabilitation are described. I do not recommend, advise, nor take responsibility for any actions described in the following pages. Before employing any treatment or method, make sure to consult with your physician.
