Sergeant John Ordway was third in command of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. This is the first biography of Ordway ever written. In 2006 the US Army commissioned a statue of Ordway which was erected in Fort Lewis, WA and is the only statue erected by the Army of an enlisted soldier.
