To an outside observer life was going well for Sharn at the Insula. He had food, friends, and a place to call his own. Everyone would say that he had everything he needed. Sharn knew better. Daniel had promised to kill him if he stuck around, and Sharn was pretty sure it hadn’t been an idle threat. Tension levels are rising at the Insula. The Inter-House Tournament, a massive multi-day event where each House competes to see which one is the best of the Insula, is approaching and everyone seems to be feeling the pressure. Sharn, however, is feeling pressures of his own. As an Outer he knows he will ever really belong at the Insula. He will never be good enough to stay. He will never be perfect like Jeffry. He will never be what Selena is looking for. He will also never be free of Daniel and his father Olithar Marrow, the head regent of the lower level. As the Tournament approaches Sharn must face his past and decide if the Seven Truths that he has pledged his life to follow are what they claim to be. Friendships will be strained and lost. Bonds will form and fray. Relationships will blossom, and beliefs will be questioned. Culminating in a deadly showdown that will determine if he truly belongs at the Insula or if he always will be Sharn of the Outers.
