A collection of short skits for teens with a cast of two to four players covering a wide variety of topics and drama styles Gr 5-9–Clean, straitlaced and with a sometimes corny sense of humor, these skits will be a welcome resource for teachers who want to incorporate a bit of drama into their classrooms. The majority of the selections feature present-day scenes of school, friends, and home, usually addressing conduct of life, but a few of them veer into the fantastical with actors playing cows, cats, and dogs. Actors are encouraged to play these scenes standing up and with light costuming to suggest the animal being portrayed. Most of the selections are for two to three players, but educators will be hard-pressed to find a collection that features short scenes for groups of 10-16 specifically tailored for classroom use. Flexible casting is possible for quite a few of the pieces.–Madigan McGillicuddy, Los Angeles Public Libraryα(c) Copyright 2010. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. I'm so happy you have taken a look at this collection of skits.  I used each of them in the classroom setting and the students loved them!  They didn't realize they were developing public speaking and reading skills as they vied to perform differing roles.  I often cast "against type" having the most shy student play the bully and the most outgoing student play the bullied.  It was a real lesson that the students were able to take to heart while enjoying the art of performing.  This book is the sequel to "Short and Sweet" which would also make an excellent collection to the drama or English classroom.  The skits are very short and appropriate for grandparents' day, assemblies, and other special occasions. Please feel free to contact me at MagScriven@yahoo and I will make every attempt to attend programs featuring these skits. Is it worth the attempt? What happens when the cicada comes a year late?Put a bunch of people in a stuck elevator and you will see how different personalities show themselves. These skits cover a variety of skits which contain a selection of personification skits, morality skits, and skits that are just plain fun. Students will love them and not even know they're learning public speaking and reading skills. Perfect for school assemblies.
