Simply Pearls ~ Parenting Practices Abridged Edition The abridged "Simply Pearls" parenting book makes it even easier for new parents to receive gentle guidance as they read aloud each day with their infant, developing a special bond from the very beginning. The habit of reading, talking, relaxing, and enjoying special time together will become a regular practice - quickly and naturally. This unusual book includes engaging affirmations which are read aloud to Baby, calming watercolor illustrations, and inspiring poems and quotes, as well as stories and insights from parents, grandparents, and professionals. An uplifting and loving look at what works in parenting. Your new child's future is full of possibilities! My original parenting book entitled, "Pearls ~ Parenting Practices," was written for avid readers who enjoy spending time with books. In today's hectic world with so many demands on parents, it was suggested to me by a local nonprofit that I create an abridged version of the book - one which retained the same value and "feel," but was a bit shorter and easier to read and absorb. "Simply Pearls" is for everyone. This one little book can help to create a solid bond between parents and children, open the lines of communication early on, and instill a connection of love and delight. Lisa Guy is a graduate of UC San Diego with a BA in Communications, a past business co-owner and mother of five. From a young age, Lisa has had an interest in people and their development - especially young children. After her third child was born, she stopped working outside the home and immersed herself in the lives of little ones. During her 30 years of volunteer work as a room parent, classroom volunteer, field trip chaperone, PTA and booster club leader, fundraising chair, teacher/administrative aide, and community volunteer, she became passionate about finding ways to help young people reach their full potential. Lisa believes that the very best way to insure that a child will develop into a happy and productive adult is to have committed and supportive parents/caregivers and a wider community, whom he or she can trust, speak to, and learn from throughout the childhood years.
