Not everything worth doing is worth doing well--sometimes good enough is good enough. Recklessly speeding down the road of life is an accident waiting to happen.  You simply cannot be all things to all people all the time.  Relentlessly vying for the ever-elusive role of superhero creates unnecessary stress and worry.  Give yourself permission to be human.  Living more of your life outside the fast lane will bring greater peace to your heart and home.  Slow down, ease up, cut back, and enjoy the ride! Years ago, I suffered from "delusions of grandeur." I imagined that my home would always be immaculately clean, my children neatly dressed in cute little outfits I had sewn myself, and my family would regularly dine on homemade gourmet goodies.  It didn't take long for reality to hit!One night I heard a speaker say something profoundly liberating: "You cannot be all things to all people at all times." I went home that very night and began implementing this new philosophy, and it has made all the difference.Gradually, I came to understand that while some things deserve our very best effort, not everything worth doing is worth doing well.  Ten children later, I consider pizza a complete meal and my children well dressed if both socks are matching! In today's competitive world, success is often defined as outsmarting, outpacing, and outdoing others. As victims of this be-all, do-all mentality, we become consumed with programs and projects which leave us frazzled and frustrated. Relentlessly vying for the ever-elusive role of superhero creates unnecessary stress and worry. Learn how to slow down, ease up, and cut back. While you may never be able to save all the starfish on the sandy beaches of your life, you can still be successful. Simply Sane explains three harmful myths to which we often fall prey, ways to simplify tasks, and how living outside the fast lane can bring greater peace to our hearts and homes. It is a must read for anyone wanting a slower, more simple pace. Not everything worth doing is worth doing well. Sometimes good enough is good enough.
