Synopsis This book is a memoir of the Lucas, family of four, relocating from an urban busy suburb of Manchester to the tourist town of Keswick. As property prices were so high in Keswick, and there was distinct lack of unemployment, we decided to put all of our eggs ( pardon the pun) into our frying pan and purchase a 1800’s coach house currently being run as a bed and breakfast. From living in a caravan, learning the trade by each passing minute, relocating of the children schools, hobbies and lives , to figuring out how we live and grow as a family, whilst running a very busy business in this quiet, yet breathtakingly beautiful pocket of the Lake District. Year 2019 is written with the wonderful innocence of “ This time next year Rodney…..”, will the inevitable crash land of the pandemic. Our mortgage Jurassic, our friends non existent, with homeschooling, empty roads, empty properties of holiday homes, thank goodness we had our later addition Joey the sheep dog to keep us entertained and walked!! Three years on and the mortgage is back on track, we have a new friends, a new self contained rental, the caravan gone and we have moved into the house and are looking forward to building a new lodge in our woodland. No time for the grass to grow!
