Romance blossoms between two aspiring Country music songwriters at an evening of creativity, friendship, and rivalry in this feel-good, sweet romantic comedy novella. Lyle is working on lyrics at a coffee house in Nashville when he hears humming from a gorgeous girl across the room. He works up the courage to introduce himself and finds out that Trish is a songwriter too and is new in town. Lyle invites her to his songwriting critique group with hopes of getting to know her better. The fun evening of quirky characters and light-hearted singing is going great until it's interrupted by the arrival Aiden Bronson. This former member of the group has a hit song on the radio, and is back to show off. How can Lyle compete with Aiden's charisma and talent so that Trish doesn't leave with stars in her eyes? "Ms. Driver has created a lively and well-orchestrated composition in this music-driven novella! Trish and Lyle are fun and charming, and their interactions are a joy to watch unfold. Trish is shy and unsure, and Lyle acts confident, but has a hidden vulnerable side. When put together, they connect in a way that makes a beautiful harmony. All of the extra side characters are also well developed and strong. Ms. Driver does a wonderful job of bringing Nashville to life! Readers will feel like they've been transported into the city with the way she's captured its rich ambiance and unique culture. While the story has a slower start, once it gets moving, it is hard to put down! " Songwriter Night has a full cast production, and it makes the book that much more fun! Sprinkled throughout the story are songs written and performed by the actors, and it adds a wonderful layer to the story. Rather than be a distraction, the music offers a full immersion for the reader. The lead narrator in particular truly sets the scene. Each character has an actor well chosen for their personality. Such a delight to listen to! "This is a great book for lovers of sweet and contemporary romances! A perfect beach read!" Chelsea Andersen, InD'Tale Magazine, 5-star Crowned Heart review " Songwriter Night is an exceptionally well-written, sweet romance novella that contains memorable characters and wonderful songs ... Overall, I loved this story. I'm going to rate it as 9 out of 10. I don't think it's perfect, but it's pretty close. On Amazon and Goodreads that will translate to 5 out of 5." -The Romance Bloke book blog review "It's a really great idea for a book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommended for all those who love music and romance." - Georgia Rose Books blog review Songwriter Night is a unique project that I created last year as a collaboration with composer/songwriter Caleb Dinger. In addition to writing, I'm also an actress and singer. When all the theaters closed and people were coming up with innovative ways to do virtual theater, I thought it might be interesting to write a musical story and record it as an audiobook. I wrote the story and song lyrics. Caleb helped with composing the music. Then we asked a dozen actors from the Nashville theater scene to read the parts. It took about six months from concept to finished project, and it was a blast to create. The story is sweet, fun, and light-hearted. It's like listening to a play, but it has full narration like a novel. The audiobook is just shy of 3 hours in length and features 12 songs. It's available at all audiobook/podcast vendors. If you read the print or ebook version (instead of listening to the audiobook) and are curious about what the songs sound like, you can find a Songwriter Night "original cast album" of just the songs at all the music streaming services. There are also some short samples on my website.
