A deep love for the rhythm and tempo of life is naturally infused into my poetic journey. Lyrical passions reach into my soul calling forth expression. I write for my life; lying words like stepping stones on barely discernable ancient paths reflecting a universal mosaic is my offering. This collection expresses the soul of a woman, uncensored. SOW vol. I 2 New Collections will be available 3rd qtr 2021 - - Soul of a Woman vol. II “Labyrinth” - and - SOW vol. III “In a Sea of Sound” A wise person once said, "What you do is not who you are." They were talking about Holly Parsons. From diverse roots spring poetry. Powerful, insightful, wise, piercing metaphor infuse her work. Her exposé's cut to the core of issues with authentic clarity. This work expresses not only personal sensibilities, but is directed more fundamentally to inspire creation of paradigm shifting possibilities for her global family. Her poetry, often performed with musicians, has taken her to Dublin, Ireland where she read at Glór Sessions, Tongue Box and The Library; in Phoenix at the Ice House, Words in the Alley, The Paisley Violin, Rebecca's in San Diego, Dead Poets in OB and various 'poetic' hot spots north to LA. Her journey of "what you do" began with pursuing a passion for journalism. Holly has held numerous editorial positions in the states and overseas and is an independent contributor and ardent supporter of transparency in journalism. Privately, she supports cultural awareness as the way to global peace through her work with non-profits; she has lived in numerous US cities and in the South Pacific, notably Suva, Fiji and Auckland, New Zealand. However, it is the "who you are" which refers to her creative life. Early on, a commitment to supporting equality and Human dignity consistently define her life choices. Conventional social norms if divisive, exclusive or demeaning discover an articulate activist in Parsons. Her deeper interests remain with philosophy, women's studies and cultural anthropology; since 1970 she is a student of Buddhism and Ageless Wisdom Teaching. Her recent poem "Global Awakenings" commissioned by the 28 year non-profit, Global Interactions, was written for 'The World Academy for the Future of Woman' to focus the UN Millennium Development Goals and is featured on numerous corporate and non-profit websites. Holly's poem commemorating the legendary life of Deirdre O'Connell hangs in Dublin's Focus Theatre. The historic Winding Stair bookstore in Dublin, Ireland honored her by shelving her first Limited Edition collection "Spring Journey". A collection of her children's poems is in development now for a series. "Japanese Sacrifice" written 10 days after the earthquake in Japan, calling for the international end to nuclear fission as an energy source, is available for viewing on YouTube in several languages. Born in Syracuse, NY; she's the mother of two artists, grandmother of two girls, and she resides in the high desert of Arizona.
