The Process
Shea butter is a fat extracted from the nut of the african shea tree (Vitellaria paradoxa). It is ivory in color when raw, with more processed versions being white in color, although it is commonly dyed yellow with borututu root or palm oil. It is widely used in cosmetics as a moisturizer, salve or lotion.
Our shea butter color varies from an ivory white to a grayish yellow. This is completely normal as this is an all natural product.
Uses
Shea butter is used in many forms and within many products. Soap making, lotions, salves, moisturizers, cosmetics, massage oils, hair conditioners and shampoos, lip gloss, lip balms. Many of our customers use it raw to moisturize their skin before bed or after a hot shower.
Storage
We recommend storing your shea butter within an air tight container away from direct sunlight in a cool dark place. Shea butter's shelf life is approximately 24 months.
