When the body of a local Wellfleet man is discovered on a hiking trail in the Cape Cod National Seashore, Will Porter, in his new position with the Investigative Services Branch of the National Park Service, is sent east to spearhead the investigation. A dearth of suspects and a perplexing lack of physical evidence hamper the investigation from the outset. In desperate need of a break from representing unaccompanied minor immigrant children his wife, Kate O'Connell, heads out to the Cape to join Porter and their friends, Pete and Sarah, unaware that a hurricane is bearing down on the Cape. In the aftermath of the storm, new facts come to light that will either break the case wide open or send the team on a wild goose chase. As the investigation widens, the evidence points to several suspects with secrets they're apparently willing to kill to keep.
