Suze Wilding and Lloyd Rockwell are complete strangers. She lives in London; he lives in New York. But when their advertising firm sponsors a job swap, having them trade apartments and jobs for the summer, they find themselves living each other’s lives. From the beginning, these two seem polar opposites—Suze is impetuous, brash, and commitment phobic, whereas Lloyd, cautious and thoughtful, is looking to settle down with his suitable girlfriend. But when Suze discovers a plot at work to get Lloyd fired, the two begin communicating long-distance, and can’t help wondering if they might just be perfect for one another. Sisman serves up a contemporary spin on the classic "opposites attract" story. Lloyd is the prototypical successful New York account executive. Suze, a graphic artist, is a free--spirited Brit. When the advertising company they work for arranges a six-week transfer, they both find themselves adjusting to life on the other side of the pond. Through frequent phone calls to help each other figure out the local customs, Lloyd and Suze become fast friends. The sparks fly even with the miles between them, but Lloyd has just proposed to his girlfriend, Betsy. To further complicate matters, Suze has unwittingly become involved in a project that will cost Lloyd his job. Sisman paints equally engaging pictures of life in London and New York and captures the essence of singledom on both continents. Add to that a swoonworthy ending, and this transatlantic romance is a real charmer. Aleksandra Kostovski Copyright © American Library Association.
