Twenty years after the Town of Summit, Schoharie County, NY was formed the town peaked at 21 school districts in 1839. That's one school about every two or three miles. This book gives an overview of the progression of the educational system in New York State, that began in 1795. Intermingled within the progress of laws governing schools are tid-bits and photos pertaining to Summit schools followed by an alphabetical list of the schools and teachers.
