"A Unique Sonic Comic" — Synthtopia "Consisting of a series of comic panels, each accompanied by a music track, THE BUREAU depicts (in real-time) an ordinary day in the life of an office worker. Except the day turns out to not be quite so ordinary..." — Metafilter "Ambitious, Inventive, Immersive. If you enjoy the occasional shake-up in your headspace, then allow THE BUREAU to feed your daytime paranoia" — SinkMist "Relevant. Sad. Sobering. Fantastic" — Reddit reviews THE BUREAU is a comic book connected to a nine and a half hour soundtrack. Instructions are included for accessing the music online. You can view it as a simple comic book, or — if you'd like to play along — press play on the included soundtrack at 8:55 am. Each track matches up with a comic book panel with a shared title. You'll then have a rowdy and noise-filled electronic music soundtrack for an entire 9.5 hour day of work. Inside the book are accompanying comic book visuals for every track, all of them timestamped and matching the clock of the day. Use it as many days as you'd like. A book which accidentally predicted much of the modern world's current political issues From its airing on radio: Composed of a 202-track album, as well as an accompanying 88-page comic book, The Bureau takes the listener through an entire work day in real time by way of modular music, with descriptive song titles like “9:09am, Walking Away From Your Desk to Calmly Flood Your Head in the Sink,” "2:12pm, The Active Shooter Casually Walks By, Pretending to Work in the Kitchen” and “5:51pm, A Trash Fire of Years of Carefully Collated Papers.” ... It’d be fair to say that The Bureau often stretches the limits of the phrase “enjoyable listening” for the sake of sticking to the contours of the day, tonally and sonically ... It’s more of toy — one part alternative reality game, and one part office kaleidoscope. — The Dallas Observer A new paper stock for 2023 Initially funded in 2018 via Kickstarter, all copies of the first printing of THE BUREAU quickly sold out. We're pleased to provide this new updated edition of the book. This second edition is presented on a softer paper and ink to better resemble WPA-era government-issued posters. Makes the product feel even more like a weird war-time survival guide. A brief update page includes details on the entire soundtrack being aired twice, in full, on Texas FM radio, along with access to a First Day Pack. Each pack includes a downloadable print-at-home Company I.D. and Parking Pass. A great gift for anyone in your life with a job. Don't get too excited. You're hired. ——— The soundtrack, available separately (but can be heard online) is a collection of modular synthesizers, boutique and drone.
