Brother Lawrence (c. 1614–1691) was a French lay monk associated with the Carmelite order, known for his simple yet profound teachings on cultivating an awareness of God's presence in everyday life. Despite his humble role as a cook and sandal maker, his deep spirituality and wisdom were compiled posthumously in the book *The Practice of the Presence of God*. His philosophy focused on the idea that one can commune with God during daily tasks, making every moment a prayer, and that holiness is found in the mundane as well as the sacred.
