This is the story of a young man who, after there are several reports of people seeing fairies in his part of Vermont during the early summer of 1935, looks for a way to see one himself. He does find a way to attract a fairy, but the fairy’s wing is injured by a bird strike and it cannot fly away. The young man takes the fairy home, to the utter amazement of his parents, who did not believe that fairies even existed. However, they adopt the fairy, a young female named Anya, in the same way as they would a very small human. Over the course of several months, this family learns much about the realm of fairies, finding out that in some respects there are more similarities to humans than differences.
