This book is intended as a yearlong art curriculum for students 12 years and up who are non-speaking or limited-speaking and for students with autism. The 50 cognitive lessons go over the 7 elements of art and most include mini motor skills/art lessons. Students will learn about artists and analyze their art as well as create their own art beginning with task requiring basic motor skills. Information on teaching students who have difficulty with motor skills how to color and draw (and a little bit on using clay) is included. (Students who are 10 or 11 may also benefit from the book, but some of the art is geared toward older students due to the depressing nature or discussion of societal ills.)
