Faced with the harsh realities of growing up in the inner city, Kam Johnson begins his sixth grade school year with the odds stacked up against him. With the help of his best friend and the wisdom of a homeless man, he learns to give and receive joy by utilizing his creative art ability and embracing the "attitude of gratitude." My name is Gregory Jamal Selden and I was born on August 3, 1990 and raised in San Bernardino, California. I am a graduate of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA with a degree in Business Marketing. I've been inspired to write ever since I was in grade school. I would write ridiculous stories and submit them into the school county writing competitions. My family did not have much while I was growing up, but my parents always worked tirelessly to make sure my older brother, Erik, and older sister, Renee, always had enough. I lost my father at the age of 14 to cancer. This forced me to grow up at a much faster rate. The year after the death of my father, my mother decided we were moving to Richmond, Virginia and took me with her. I was very apprehensive about the move at first, but met many of my closest friends today.
