Before Spotify. Before smartphones. There were garage bands, mixtapes, and one last summer before everything changed. Tucson, 1989. Adam has two dreams: become a rock god—and survive heartbreak. Armed with a Fender Strat, a denim vest, and a killer Def Leppard mixtape, Adam and his misfit band—the Bellevue Boys—are sure their big break is just around the corner. First, they have to survive real life. A cheating ex. A dead-end job at a crumbling movie theater. A six-foot bong named The Bad Boy . And the reality that soon, everything—and everyone—will change. The Bellevue Boys is a hilarious and heartfelt coming-of-age story for anyone who rewound their favorite cassette, argued about Van Halen, or wondered if love was worth skipping band practice. Packed with Gen X nostalgia, loud guitars, and late-night misadventures, this is the story of that fleeting moment when everything feels possible— One last summer before everything changes. Perfect for fans of Dazed and Confused , Almost Famous , and High Fidelity . Read this during the election season as a distraction to all the negativity. Mission accomplished! Great read, laugh out loud funny in parts, a nice romantic comedy with a heartfelt romance. Nailed the 80's vibe (the greatest decade). Love for this to have a sequel or made into a movie to help take all the 80's vibes in. Fun book with a walk down an 80s memory lane. Could definitely see this as a Netflix movie. I loved the reminder of all those rock bands and songs from the 80s. Amazing how much freedom teens had back then. All the 80s terms and slang brought me right back. Provided many flashbacks of growing up in the 80's. Laugh Out Loud memories. If you grew up in the late 80's and was a wannabe Rock Star it's a must read. Bellevue Boys 4ever ❤️ I loved this book!! Took me back to my days of hanging with local bands as a teen..characters are great and just really created nostalgia for me! 5 star recommended Great fun read, the characters are very relatable as they suffer through the angst of being half boy half man growing up in American suburbia of the eighties and nineties. Very nostalgic story that reminded me of Happy Days and That 70's Show. If any TV producers wanted to do something similar, The Bellevue Boys would be a good place to look.
