In the heat-blasted suburbs of Tucson, 1989, Adam has two dreams: becoming a rock god and surviving high school heartbreak. Armed with a Fender Strat, a denim vest, and a killer Def Leppard mixtape, Adam and his misfit band—the Bellevue Boys—are determined to make it big… eventually. But first, there’s a cheating ex, a summer job at a crumbling movie theater, a six-foot bong named The Bad Boy , and the looming threat of leaving it all behind for college. The Bellevue Boys is a hilarious and heartfelt coming-of-age tale for anyone who ever rewound their favorite cassette, argued about the best Van Halen lineup, or wondered if love was worth skipping band practice for. Packed with Gen X flavor, this summer novel captures the end of an era—and the start of something way messier. Read this during the election season as a distraction to all the negativity. Mission accomplished! Great read, laugh out loud funny in parts, a nice romantic comedy with a heartfelt romance. Nailed the 80's vibe (the greatest decade). Love for this to have a sequel or made into a movie to help take all the 80's vibes in. Fun book with a walk down an 80s memory lane. Could definitely see this as a Netflix movie. I loved the reminder of all those rock bands and songs from the 80s. Amazing how much freedom teens had back then. All the 80s terms and slang brought me right back. Provided many flashbacks of growing up in the 80's. Laugh Out Loud memories. If you grew up in the late 80's and was a wannabe Rock Star it's a must read. Bellevue Boys 4ever ❤️ I loved this book!! Took me back to my days of hanging with local bands as a teen..characters are great and just really created nostalgia for me! 5 star recommended Great fun read, the characters are very relatable as they suffer through the angst of being half boy half man growing up in American suburbia of the eighties and nineties. Very nostalgic story that reminded me of Happy Days and That 70's Show. If any TV producers wanted to do something similar, The Bellevue Boys would be a good place to look.
