This short history explores the life of the Central New England Railway, which served Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Hudson River valley of New York. Formed in 1899 - the last year of the nineteenth century - the firm was purchased in early 1904 by the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad Company, which chose to lease the C. N. E. until 1927 whereupon it extinguished its corporate identity. The crown jewel of the Central New England was its massive bridge over the Hudson River at Poughkeepsie, New York - today a public walkway and major tourist attraction. Climb aboard for a journey into the C. N. E's fascinating and topsy-turvy past!
