In 1988, people around the world were mesmerised by the islands of Indonesia, in the award winning documentary by the Blair brothers, called ‘Ring of Fire, An Indonesian Odyssey’. This documentary series was broadcast on mainstream TV to the western world. These two adventurer brothers from the UK, showed us things never before captured on camera. Among these was an unassuming Chinese-Javanese man, they referred to as ‘DJ’. DJ was no ordinary man. He practiced acupuncture and produced strong shocks in his patients when he touched them. However it was his psychic powers that proved the biggest mystery. DJ was able to move items without touching them and even more surprising, he could set fire to paper by projecting his ch'i energy into it. All of this was captured on camera and set off a chain event that was to change the lives of two men - Danaos Kosta and Jim McMillan, who immediately went to Indonesia to track down this master and become his first western students. We later find out that this mysterious man was called John Chang and practiced a system of energy work called Neigong. His school is called Mo Pai and we find out that there are seventy-two levels to attain. The Ch’i Master of Mo Pai does not contain any new information on John Chang. However, this book evaluates the information already made available about John Chang, from the works of his students Kosta and Jim. We look at the first four levels of Mo Pai training and the energy alchemy that is involved. We look at John Chang’s acupuncture abilities and his ability to project a powerful charge of bio-energy or ch'i into his patients, almost involuntarily. This book stands as a work of admiration to this unique individual and those incredible modern day adventurers who captured his abilities, who trained and later wrote about him.
