The Keeper concept is found in nearly every offense at every level of the game. They can be run in virtually any offensive system. They rely on a play action fake going one way, and the quarterback rollout out the opposite direction. The design of the play will often create a three level flood to stress the deep defender and flat defender, while relying on the play fake to hold the hook defender. Within this simplicity, each coaching staff must think critically when game planning Keepers. Every defense is affected differently by certain versions of Keepers. Within my Offensive Manuals, I attempt to dissect the reasons coaches chose the Keepers they called.
