A compelling and nuanced guide detailing the skills necessary for people of color to thrive in corporate America, particularly at the C-Suite level, without compromising one's own identity and integrity. With the percentage of ethnic and racial minorities reaching unprecedented heights in corporate America, we’re in uncharted territory regarding how this growing demographic navigates companies with cultures that can be foreign, alienating, and downright hostile to these shifts in the workplace. The Culture Compass provides its readers with the tangible skills, insights, and practices that make this shift in corporate leadership more than a trend, but sustainable. Harder than getting these positions for minorities is keeping them, and the primary difficulty consistent in attainting and maintaining this seat of power is the dearth of people who have the unique experience of negotiating the politics of the boardroom, the hypervisibility of being the “only one” or “one of the few” at the table, and the responsibility that comes with representation. With over twenty years of C-suite experience, Arturo Nuñez has worked at the world’s largest companies: he served as the VP of Latin America for the National Basketball Association, the Global VP of Basketball Marketing for Nike, the Head of Marketing of Latin America for Apple, and was recently elected to Estee Lauder’s board of directors. It’s easy to regard Nuñez as an avatar for the concept of the American exception, but The Culture Compass seeks to rewrite this narrative and provide the reader with the tools they need to advance to the C-suite. Arturo Nuñez is a seasoned executive and entrepreneur with decades of experience at globally recognized organizations, including Apple, Nike, Pepsi, the NBA. He is the CEO and founder of AIE Creative, providing immersive experiences for a curated selection of brands and a Board Member of Abercrombie & Fitch Co., The Estee Lauder Companies, and the NBA Players Association. Previously, he was Chief Marketing Officer at Nubank and Head of Marketing for Latin America at Apple Inc. Prior to that, he held various positions at Nike and the NBA. Nuñez is multilingual and sits on the boards of The Anti-Recidivism Coalition, The Playing for Change Foundation, and The Nyah Project. He cofounded Black Joy Thrive’s Black Men’s Retreat and coowns Dante’s HiFi and Chulita Mexican Restaurant. Recently, he was named one of Latin America's most influential marketing leaders by Advertising Week. Cecil R. Cross II is the author of music executive Kenny Burn's memoir The Dream Is Real and the fictional HBCU series First Semester and Next Semester . His writing has appeared in Complex , Vibe , SLAM , and The Cut , among other publications. Cross has led creative teams at Amazon and some of the world's most recognized companies, and is the founder and lead content strategist of Crescendo Creative, a full-service marketing agency.

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
