Marshall Buckner Mayberry 2022 is a genealogical account of how the three families, the Marshalls, the Buckners, and the Mayberrys are connected. We can trace our heritage back to our common ancestor, Louisa Diggs Buckner born a slave in 1847. This account provides data back to the early 1800s. Through DNA testing these families have found two of their African roots. Their maternal line leading from Louisa Diggs Buckner hails from the Menda and Temne people of present day Sierra Leone. Their paternal DNA through Henry Buckner is the same as the Makua people of present day Mozambique. The rich and intriguing stories of these proud people also contain mysteries still waiting to be uncovered. The author, Bonita Walker, continues with her research to discover who her people are and what made them who they are today. Up to date generations are included with their stories so that future children and grandchildren can know something about us.
