The Dolphin Keeper tells the heartwarming story of local fisherman 'Cap' and his love for the sea and its creatures. Children of all ages will love this tale with its whimsical fantasy and message of kindness. John Young is an artist and sculptor from Long Island, New York. Young was inspired to write The Dolphin Keeper after the passing of his youngest son Corey. In Youngs' own words: "Corey came to me when he was in third grade and asked me to make a sculpture for his class. I made a King Neptune-like creature with a mermaid tail and lobster claws. This creature had dolphins jumping over his shoulder so I called him "the dolphin keeper." I presented to Corey's class and they loved it. One youngster asked me the story behind the sculpture but I did not have one. So, I made one up and a couple of weeks later I went back and told it and the kids loved it. As my son got older his writing skills were outstanding. I told him we needed to write the The Dolphin Keeper story so we began writing late summer 2004. On February 21, 2005 he passed away. It took me years to get myself together but I promised myself that I would write and get our story published." Nancy Ruth is a lifelong artist from Long Island, New York. She is a member of the Bell Street Artists.
