In an advanced Earth civilization, humans were on the brink of the next step in evolution: the ability to perform magic. Before the trait could fully express itself, a portal from another world opened on Earth, and a terrible war raged between humans and the invading demonic creatures called Tekkas. By the end, Earth was a shell of its former self. Technology crumbled, empires collapsed, and all memory of the magic users was forgotten. Yet, the trait lived on in descendant after descendant. These magic users, the Dream Walkers, can travel to a different world, Wyrta. Yet only the Dream Walkers know that Wyrta is the same world in which the Tekkas reside. A war-driven race, the Tekkas will stop at nothing to rebuild the portal and invade Earth to finish what they started. Emery thinks nothing of his dreams of falling, but soon learns his dreams aren't normal. He finds himself thrown into an unknown land with a man accused of being a traitor in both worlds, a Lythari elf with a prickly attitude, and a skilled medic who could get away with making a joke at a funeral. Together, they must find a way to stop the Tekkas. With only one piece of the portal missing, time is running out.
