"What a lovely way to fall in love with Diwali again!" Dushyant Wadivkar, Author, 20odle 20o: A South-Asian Dad's Story "This offering will greatly appeal to the 'inner child' within each one of us. You have beautifully woven the Diwali theme. It is surely going to appeal to children and more so to the parents. Wishing the authors - Vatsala & Upasna more power & success to create more such offerings." Ashok Dullu, Editor and Author, Loal We grew up in India in the late 1980s and had access to Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan that played on the local TV every Sunday morning. This program showcased stories from the Ramayan- a literary and cultural epic making us learn lots of new stories. We learned why the festival of Diwali was celebrated.   However, most stories were usually taken from Valmiki Ramayan (it has 24,000 verses!). As we grew older, we realized there are lots of folk stories from across South-Asia which have their own unique twists and turns. In this book, you will find a folktale from the Kashmiri Ramayan that has been transliterated for the very first time!   This book also has activity pages where you can journal your Diwali memories by writing notes and sticking family photos. You will also find some coloring page, learn how to make a paper lantern or a Kandeel, how to make a card, and also make a batch of Suji Halwa (yum!)   We hope with this book, everyone is able to celebrate the festival of lights in their own way. And also learn new stories!   HAPPY DIWALI! :-)   Vatsala & Upasna Vatsala Kakroo is a TEDx speaker and technologist working in SAP, Canada.
