"This Essential Doomsday Cookbook by Larinna Chandler is a fun & informational read. Included was a ton of recipes & several variations to your "traditional" favorites, it also gave quirky descriptions of each dish & related them to her own experiences growing up as well as to others. It gave helpful advice on how to preserve it and ways to survive with the food items you have readily available to you. I also enjoyed the interactive pages to take your own notes in-between recipes. It is very neatly organized, in the fact that you don't need to plaster your pages with post-it notes or have an entire small divider full of post card jotted recipes. It gives you a chance to build off of the recipes she has given you! I highly recommend this book." "So much more than a cookbook! The Essential Doomsday Cookbook by Larinna Chandler is a must read. While I was expecting a list of traditional recipes, this book delivered far more to include relevant history, food preservation tips, a fire making tutorial, and most importantly an exploration of the survival mindset. This well-organized reference source will have a permanent place in my survival library. I highly recommend this book." "Reading your book. I love it so far! The little notations on the bottom are super cute. I'm loving the Apocalypse notes they're informative and the last run I read was really funny! Really I'm enjoying this book more than than I thought I would." I love to cook outside and have been doing it for years. If you go onto my facebook page and look in my "cast iron cooking" album, you'll see a lot of our family mealtime pictures. There has been a lot of talk about the world as a whole, kind of going in a bad way. I wanted to turn my love of cooking, and my love of cooking over an open fire into a concise book designed specifically to save lives. Where there is some 'doom and gloom', there are a lot of hidden humorous gems in there to find. Nearly every page number and description has a funny caption. There are also outakes of our life in there. One single family amidst millions determined to help all we can. Not only are there recipes, we also added a few simple tutorials on making fires, open fire cooking and more. Each section has a bullet point list of important items to take away. While the cookbook IS called a doomsday cookbook, nearly all of the recipes are for made from scratch. Using this cookbook with it's simplified recipes will help you save money from day one and will earn its price back in take out food savings in just the first few times you use it. From our family to yours, stay safe. Be good. Do good. Love with your whole hearts and tell folks you love them. Be kind. Be humble. Be Strong. and LOVE. Always love.
