The Expedition of Humphry Clinker Evan Gottlieb is Associate Professor of English at Oregon State University. He is the author of Feeling British: Sympathy and National Identity in Scottish and English Writing, 1707-1832 , Walter Scott and Contemporary Theory , and Romantic Globalism: British Literature and Modern World Order, 1750-1830 . He is co-editor of Approaches to Teaching Scott's Waverly Novels and Representing Place in British Literature and Culture, 1660-1830: From Local to Global . He is also a regular contributor to the Huffington Post books blog.
