As a kid, I loved reading stories of Emperor Akbar and his wise and witty courtier Birbal. One night after I tucked my daughter to bed with an Akbar Birbal story, I decided to look up Birbal on Google and Wikipedia.   I realized that Akbar and Birbal were close friends. Birbal's "death," as history books have us believe, merited digging deeper. And what a find! I had to share it with you! Through this journey, I learned much more than about Akbar and Birbal. The dangers of weaponizing religion for power remain prescient throughout the world.  I hope you enjoy the novel and its surprising climax.
