Quick Facts : - Recognized in the 2021 National Indie Excellence Awards for HUMOR - Recognized in the 2021 Purple Dragonfly Book Awards for Animal Stories/Pets A review from BESTSELLING AUTHOR, Melissa Bourbon/Winnie Archer: ; "Calling all dog lovers. With the Finn Chronicles, not only will you laugh out loud, your heart will melt as Finn tells his tales about the hoomans he loves - and who adore him. You'll be absolutely charmed." A review from BOOK LIFE : “The humor and personality Romack gives Finn will appeal to readers of all ages. Humor ranges from highbrow to low: Finn describes certain training as “my 6th ring of Hell (Yes, dogs read Dante too),” but also boasts, “5 deuces in one walk!!” As Finn says, “Sometimes I like to throw the hoomans a bone to keep them feeling positive.” And this charming diary is a lighthearted escape that will put a smile on dog lovers’ faces.” What Readers Are Saying : "I was so pleasantly surprised by this book and can’t wait for year two. It’s funny, strangely relatable, and fresh. The pictures and videos really bring Finn and “the hairy one” to life. Finn’s descriptions of hooman things from a dog’s view are so spot on and his sassy inner-voice hashtags are my favorite part. It’s cute but not too cutesy. Smart jokes and quips. And who doesn’t love a great ending to a tough rescue beginning. Now I keep wondering how my dog is interpreting things I’m doing. The author even gives links to three rescues for donations. I love that. I will definitely be looking out for future books in the series." "Loved how much they understand dogs. Recently lost our pup & this helped heal the hurt. Thoroughly enjoyed life through a dog's perspective." “One of the funniest diaries you'll ever read. I first came across The Finn Chronicles as a series of Facebook posts and was immediately hooked. I don't use Facebook for much, but reading Finn's updates was something my whole family grew love. Gwen's is a fantastic writer, and has a gift for translating Finn's world into a hilarious soliloquy, as he reports on his daily life, rituals, food explorations, adventures and temper tantrums. You will quickly fall in love with this bold, moody, opinionated dog & his wonderful people. It's a must read for any dog lover!" “A hysterical and light-hearted view into the life of the luckiest rescue in the world...oh, and the dog that rescued them." I've been especially delighted to hear how many kids are enjoying this book! It wasn't initially written for kiddos, but apparently talk of poop, making fun of adults, great pictures, and hashtags are a winning recipe for kids of all ages! I just love every message I get showing a child reading and grinning! Finn's dutiful transcriber, Gwen Romack (aka The Squishy One), is a Maryland native, avid dog lover, and rescue volunteer. Gwen and her husband Evan (aka The Hairy One) agreed to foster Finn a year after losing their beloved Vizsla/Pit mix, Mr. Snuggles, at age 14. She began posting Finn's weekly updates on Facebook as a way to help prospective adopters fall in love with Finn. But, it became clear pretty quickly that she and her husband would become foster fails and Finn was already home! The posts became so popular in the Vizsla community that she decided to continue indulging Finn and letting him dictate his view of life as a dog rescuing his difficult hoomans. At the time of publishing the first book, sweet and sassy Finn is in year three of his weekly updates. If the first book does well, Gwen plans to publish subsequent years and donate a portion of the proceeds to his favorite rescue organizations. Gwen is a volunteer and passionate advocate and for homeless youth, veterans and animals. She enjoys growing veggies, cooking, music and painting kindness rocks to spread joy all over the world. In her "day job", Gwen is an Ethics & Compliance officer, working to curb, investigate and mitigate corruption within corporations and governments.
