This trilogy includes: The Treasure of God's Path, a clear and comprehensive presentation of the basics of Sufism; The Secret Word, a rapturous song of the enlightened heart; and The Approaching Promise, a poetic exposition of the soul's journey portrayed through the symbols of fire, air, water, and earth. Fragrance of Sufism will provide thoughtful reading for students and scholars of Religion and Eastern Studies as well as anyone interested in learning more about Sufism. Surely one of the finest books of its kind, The Fragrance of Sufism provides both a practical introduction to Sufism and samples of the exquisite beauty of Sufi poetry. Divided into three parts, the book explores the stages of study in Sufism. "The Treasure on God's Path," is a practical introduction to Sufism; "The Approaching Promise" is a poem of spiritual struggle against the pillage of heart and soul in modern life, eventually leading us to the awareness of that for which we yearn -- spiritual enlightenment; and finally "The Secret Word," representing the ultimate transcendence, describes, in verse, spiritual victory and the essence of Sufi. As the author describes the various stages of spiritual transcendence, the careful reader realizes that the essence of Sufism is the experience of Divine Love. Molana Salaheddin Ali Nader Shah Angha has written over 50 works in poetry and prose. In addition to being the 42nd eminent Sufi master of a lineage that dates to the 7th century, he is also a physicist and a mathematician. The following passage is taken from page 25 and 26. One of the major principles of irfan [Sufism] is that man never attains knowledge of something which he does not have within himself. This means that the perceiver and the perceived must have an intuitive harmony of existence, so that the ability of cognition may be accomplished. To stabilize in such a reality, the salik [seeker] endeavors continually to forego sleep and illusions, until such time that he is endowed with the attributes of He, the Ever Alive, the Omnipresent, and to be unique in the attainment of godliness which is his maxim. The following passage is taken from page 6. The significance of the foregoing proposition lies in man's innate urge to know the reason for his existence, the course of his natural life from its beginning to the present, and to foresee his future, which is undetermined and cannot be foretold by imagination and speculation. This urge, as well as man's genuine need to reach his goals, explains why irfan [Sufism] at all levels, times, places, and across all frontiers, has a pervasive and universal appeal. Irrespective of his creed, occupation, class, and opinions, man seeks to explore his capabilities, aptitudes and dimensions. Just as, from the moment of birth, a baby seeks to discover his capabilities by using his sensory and physical abilities and to fulfill his needs and familiarize himself with his environment, so man upon reaching appropriate mental maturity, wishes to know the cause of his existence, his present and future life, and ultimately his death through a vaster sphere. The following passage is taken from page 75. Ever arising Love grants life, Movement from life ensues and water transmits, The particle settled on the node and the node upon circles revolves, Circles are waves and waves are forever expanding, Water, vapor, dust, and clay mingled, And in the glow of Love's translucent fire images form, And tranquillity is firm, Used Book in Good Condition
