A MISSING MAN, AN ANCIENT GOLD COIN, AND AN EVIL UNLEASHED THAT THREATENS PARADISE. On the island of St. Croix, retired homicide detective Mad Dog Cotton has a reputation for being able to find missing things. Betsy Rourk's husband, Bob, is missing after going diving with a friend. Mad Dog is reluctant to take the case until Betsy offers a single golden piece of ancient pirate treasure as his fee. Gold overcomes common sense, and Mad Dog takes the case. Mad Dog has no idea that he's about to walk into a four-hundred-year-old mystery. What he unearths brings the ancient ghosts of greed, lust, and insanity down on his head and erupts his quiet island into a volcano of chaos. Will Mad Dog find the answer before a 400-year-old plague of greed, hatred, and insanity destroys paradise? Buy your copy Now! First, thanks for buying The Gold of St. Croix. This book was fun to write because I got to tell the world about a few of my favorite characters. In the book, you will meet Cheri. As a writer, you generally write about what you know, and yes, there is a real-life Cheri, my wife Charlene. Charlene was a U.S. Marshal on St. Croix, just like in the book, and just like in the book, I sometimes bring out some of her richer personality traits. Characters don't always have to be people. Sometimes, they are places. I can't think of a better setting for a mystery writer than St. Croix. If you haven't been to St. Croix, you have to go. I love St. Croix! It is the old Caribbean. As a boy, I spent my summers in the little cowboy town of Dubois, Wyoming; in Dubois, the old timers used to shake their heads when a new millionaire would show up and think he would change the town. For a while, the rich guy would strut and brag about how Dubois needed a street light or a restaurant with fine wine and tablecloths. About a year later, you would run into the same guy wearing faded Levi's, a baseball cap from the feed store, and scuffed cowboy boots. The old-timers in Dubois liked to say that the millionaires didn't change Dubois. Dubois changes the millionaires! St. Croix is the same way. Just give the island a little time, and you forget about the crazy old world; find a little beach bar with a beer special, sit back, maybe hum a few bars of an old Jimmy Buffett song, and watch the sunset. St. Croix is Paradise. The Island is rich in its own unique culture because fabulous musicians, artists, and master chefs come for vacation and stay a lifetime. That slow, relaxed, quiet attitude is called "Island time," St. Croix is one of the few Islands left in the Caribbean that still really has "Island time." When I go to book signings, people always ask, "Where do you get your inspiration?" The answer is simple: Most of the good guys and some of the bad guys are just old friends, and the setting is a place I love! Please enjoy the Gold of St. Croix! Find a lounge chair in the sun, grab a dark and diet (Cruzen for rum and Diet Coke), and enjoy a little "Island Time." As an author, I always include this little blurb: If you like The Gold of St. Croix, please write a review, follow me on Amazon, and start looking for my second book, The Snow of St. Croix. Wyoming native Tom Sedar's life has been a fun ride. As a young man he worked as a ranch hand, rodeo cowboy, rough neck, and commercial diver. In 1984 Tom quit his wondering life to attend Law School at the University of Wyoming. After Law School he had a 25-year career as a trial lawyer. In his career Tom tried over 250 jury trials (that is a lot of storytelling). In 2007 Tom and his wife Charlene, a Federal Marshal, moved to the Caribbean where Tom was the Major Crimes / Homicide Prosecutor for the Island of St. Croix. In, The Gold of St. Croix, Tom couples his lifetime of experience with his gift for storytelling to create a must read for any mystery lover.
