The seed of this book comes from three other books. It started with Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doer. This captivating novel has the ancient Greek wisdom weaving its way through the entire narrative. Reading Cloud Cuckoo Land put me to mind of some of the Greek philosophers I had read in college, and I decided to reengage with Plato and Aristotle. Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics captivated me in a way they had not when I read them in my youth. He offers compelling and important insights into the human condition and sage advice on how to live a good life. The writing style is not easily digested. This brings us to the third book which played a critical role in creating this book. The brilliant and hilarious book Indexed by Jessica Hagy. The author brings to life insights into the absurdity of life and the human condition through intuitive graphics such as Venn diagrams, bar charts, and scatter plots. The idea came to me that most people will not benefit from Aristotle's thinking because of his intractable writing style. But if I could bring his thinking to life ala Jessica Hagy style graphics it would be an easier way for people to benefit from the wisdom Aristotle from over 2000 years ago.
