The World English Bible was translated with one goal: to have an accurate, readable, public domain translation that belongs to the church. Utilizing the American Standard Version (ASV) as the base translation, editors and volunteers worked hard to update the ASV’s language to reflect contemporary vernacular. Further, they utilized the Majority Text to better inform the New Testament for accuracy while maintaining textual variants in footnotes. The result is: a literal, readable, contemporary translation designed for personal and family reading, devotions, in-depth study, preaching, teaching, and publications for the life of the church and for the glory of God.Renewed Christian Living would like to thank the original translators and editors of the ASV, though they have departed, may their commitment to God's Word continue to speak.
