It has been many years since I compiled my original notes on the Qur’an. I have received quite a bit of feedback. The most common request being that I provide the entire text of the Qur’an. More than fifty percent of the work is commentary, and Abdullah Yusuf Ali, in the preface of his 1934 edition he stated: “The English shall be, not a mere substitution of one word for another, but the best expression I can give to the fullest meaning which I can understand from the Arabic text.” Therefore, without risk of copyright violation, this second edition contains the entire translated text of every sura. Some have asked what made me qualified to write this book. I would refer them to what I stated in the original authors note at the end of the first edition, as well as the 2003 preface and my reasons for compiling this work. I believe all those that seek truth will be guided. Several readers have commented saying that the highlighting of Christian teachings and the comparisons of Christianity to Islam are wonderful, however they wished there were less of an emphasis towards LDS (Mormon) beliefs and scripture. This work would probably not have been written were it not the knowledge that throughout history God has always called prophets, and for my firm belief that the Lord meant what he said in Amos 3:7 “Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. ” To readers who may not share that belief I will say: Do not let those beliefs, in which we may differ, detract from the knowledge and value that this work may offer. Namely, the “wonderful highlighting of Christian teachings and the comparisons to Christianity.” There are many books which show similarities between Islamic and Christian beliefs. While this book does accomplish that, it takes it a step further, using verses of the Qur'an to show more than just similarity of beliefs. It shows that Muslims believe in Jesus and, according to their scriptures, believe in following Christ. It shows that they believe the Christians of their time were following apostate beliefs. The people of Islam were awaiting the restoration of all Truths as taught by all of the prophets including Jesus Christ. There are many who do not realize the sheer number of references to Christ that exist in the Qur'an. Nor do many realize the teachings about the council in heaven, the creation, the occurrences in the Garden of Eden, the need for prophets, the miraculous conception of Jesus, Jesus's restoration of the true religion, miracles performed by him, his resurrection and ascension, the apostacy; the prophecies of other chosen people and scriptures, another restoration and more prophets yet to come as taught in the Suras of the Holy Qur'an.
