The subject of happiness is universally relevant but intensely personal in its application. In six doctrinal essays and two personal narratives, The Humble Seeker of Happiness: Lessons in Joy from the Book of Mormon explores the concept of joy within the context of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. However, increased happiness is not this book's most important lesson. At its core, The Humble Seeker of Happiness is about understanding the personal nature of Christ's atoning sacrifice, discovering your unique role in God's Plan of Happiness, and being motivated to accept the grace of Christ as you work towards the ultimate gift God has in store for you: to join with Him in experiencing eternal joy. Dane has a family, house, job, church calling, and a deep love of the scriptures. He wrote this book not because it was a natural outgrowth of his professional credentials, but because he needed to study the topic for his own benefit. As he deliberately studied happiness from the Book of Mormon, he learned things that were too good to not share with others, and so "The Humble Seeker of Happiness" was born. He intentionally chose the title, not only because it hints at a prominent theme, but because it succinctly summarizes his own faith journey. Dane holds a master's degree in civil engineering from Utah State University and works full time as an airport engineering consultant. He seeks happiness with his wife, Danielle, and their three children in Utah's beautiful Cache Valley.
