This is the story of the last battle of the Revolutionary War. Many know the battle at Yorktown, when the British surrenderend was the end to the war, and this was officially the last battle on land. However, out at sea in the Atlantic Ocean there was activity that solidified the Americian's independence. The ship, USS Alliance , captianed by John Barry, engaged the British frigate HMS Sybil . Captain Barry skillfully used his seamanship and superior gunnery to damage the British vessel and force it to break off the engagement.
