It’s time for the Provincetown International Film Festival, and wedding planner Sydney Riley has scored a coup: her inn is hosting the wedding of the year. Movie star Brett Falcone is to marry screenwriter Justin Braden, and even Sydney’s eternally critical mother is excited. The town is overflowing with filmmakers, film reviewers, film buffs, and it’s all the inn can do to keep up with the influx of glamorous celebrities and host their star-studded events. When Sydney opens a forbidden door in the mysterious Whaler’s Wharf, she discovers the body of a producer—and a legion of unanswered questions. Who strangled the innocuous Caroline Cooper? What dark force followed Brett and Justin from LA? Why is her boss Mike tense and double-checking every room at the inn? And is Mirela really leaving P’town forever? Sydney and her boyfriend Ali need to find the answers fast before another victim takes a final bow. Set against the backdrop of the Provincetown International Film Festival and injected with engaging characters who face a success story gone awry and impossible situations that evolve from this, The Matinée Murders incorporates the satisfyingly unexpected twists and turns of a superior murder mystery while maintaining a sense of place and personality. These features keep The Matinée Murders emotionally involving and fast-paced to the end. (Midest Book Review) "The story flows really well, moves at a fast pace and had my Kindle in overdrive as I was furiously flicking through the pages. I was enjoying it so much that I was actually sad when it had come to the end. I also appreciated the humour that was interwoven throughout that had me laughing out loud on so many occasions!" (Damppebbles Review) I loved writing The Matinée Murders, partly because I've always been fascinated with Whaler's Wharf here in Provincetown, and partly to try and capture the feeling when hundreds of people from all over the world descend on a small seaside town for a week. .... I also wanted to give Sydney a chance to do something for Mike, her manager at the Race Point Inn. In one of the previous books in the series, Mike saved Sydney's life. I imagine that's something one doesn't easily forget. This was also a great opportunity to give Mike a backstory that readers can relate to--a failed marriage, getting hurt, picking up the pieces again. .... I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it! She herself lives and writes in a cottage in Provincetown, on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and loves the collection of people who assemble at a place like land's end.
