Unless of course it is the children causing the harm. Review- 5 stars Stacey writes about family dynamics brilliantly, relationships between children and their parents, siblings, lovers in a way we can all relate to. And what I will say is, we ALL have a ‘Baz’ in our lives. And she really picks up on the generation after generation of the families raised in these areas, their habits, behaviours and doing only what they know. These are potentially the world’s forgotten families. Class issues today are definitely still a problem, I love that this is a focus here. It certainly gave me pause for thought in relation to my own behaviours and stereotypes sometimes. The story has one major storyline that it follows, which I won’t address here for the sake of spoilers, but it’s a big deal….yet rarely talked about. And it looks at how that particular issue has an impact on everyone involved. It was tough…I cried…more than once. I really must be getting soft in my old age. Or maybe it’s the skill set of our wonderful Author. This really was a great read, and I devoured it over two days. Stacey has a brilliant mind and I definitely can’t wait to see what she produces going forward.Five stars for this, for its fierce, gritty, dark and daring topics.
