This book is an encyclopedia of the storied minor league, the Pacific Coast League, from the time of its predecessor league, the California League, in 1897 through the 1968 season. Each season is represented in roster format, with every player who appeared in at least one game. Statistics for many seasons appear for the first time anywhere. Carlos Bauer meticulously compiled statistics from box scores for the following seasons: 1897-1919; 1926; 1933-1934; 1942. Additionally, he compiled averages for less-than-45 innings pitchers from 1930 through 1949, when those averages were included in the official averages. He also included PCL statistician, Bill Weiss's fractional innings pitched that had never been published, nor made available. This is, in short, what a minor league encyclopedia should be.
