Stine Goosebumps-vibe going for it! Definite RECOMMEND!" --Goodreads Reviewer ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Excellently crafted, guiding readers through a succinct yet compelling narrative!" --Amazon Reviewer ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "An absolutely delightful, creepy, chilling read!" --LibraryThing Reviewer Readers' Favorite Review :In The Old Person Curse: Between Dark and Light by Chris Von Halle, Azie is 12 years old and has just moved into a new house with her parents. The house has a secret of its own. On her first day at school, Azie made friends with Rachel and Keith who were shocked to learn that the family had moved into that house. They told her all about The old person curse where the resident kids suddenly turn old and die. As she battles with the curse, she finds comfort in her sweet neighbor Carol Willoughby's oatmeal raisin cookies and her mind-blowing video games. As she starts investigating the curse, she begins to wonder whether Ms. Snagglerooth and her twin sister Ms. Gretchen could be the two witches responsible for the curse. As her condition worsens, Azie is determined to defeat the witches with the help of her friends and regain her youth. Finally, a new twist threatens her survival and freedom from the curse. The Old Person Curse by Chris Von Halle is a horror novel based on a curse that has haunted 26 Abbey Way for ages. Chris Von Halle has tapped into the essence of horror stories which is appealing to young adult readers. While the story was wonderful, the best thing about this book is its ability to confuse expectations so that no one can accurately predict the ending. The description of secondary characters aside from the big three is somewhat restricted due to limited pages, but this is a minor criticism. Von Halle's writing is compelling, his storytelling is phenomenal, and the way the book balances the different elements is superb. I enjoyed reading The Old Person Curse and would recommend it to horror lovers.
