We often hear the phrase, “They were the one that got away”—the idea that we lost something precious because we believed something else was better. That’s my story. But the one who got away wasn’t a person—it was God. Before you say, “God can’t get away—He’s everywhere,” you’re absolutely right. He’s omnipresent. But just because God is always there doesn’t mean we’re always aware of Him. Somewhere along the way, I stopped noticing Him. I let go of the very best thing I had—trading His presence for what I thought was better. But I’m not the first. From Adam and Eve in the garden, to Abraham and Sarah trying to control their own story, to Jonah diverting from the mission God gave him, humanity has a history of choosing what looks better over what’s actually best. We chase quick fixes, easy outs, or counterfeit promises—believing we know better than God. Is that your story too? This book is my honest, raw, and redemptive journey—woven with biblical truth—about how I broke free from toxic cycles and learned to stop settling in life, love, and faith. My prayer is that these pages will encourage you, make you laugh, and most importantly, remind you that God never let go of you… even if you’ve let go of Him. You’re worth more. Don’t settle.
