The ‘Pandora series’, eighteen woodcuts which were printed in Hieronymus Reusner’s Pandora, das ist, die edleste Gab Gottes, oder der Werde unnd Heilsamme Stein der Weisen,... Basel, 1582 was derived from the illustrations from a number of manuscripts entitled Das Buch der heiligen Dreifaltigkeit (The Book of the Holy Trinity), the first illustrated German alchemical manuscript, dated to the early 15th century 1410- 1430. The images influenced many later alchemical emblems, including some of those in the renouned Rosarium philosophorum series. The woodcuts have here been coloured by Adam McLean.
