Written in the style of the pulp fiction novels of the past! A realistic story featuring a detective who moonlights as a clown to make himself more likeable. The choice results in as much intrigue and danger as it does humor! Detective Donald Stallworth lost his marriage and decided to change his serious, stressful life by learning how to make people happy. He loves entertaining children, but cares about solving crimes and happens to have another hobby - collecting historical firearms and competing in Old West fastdraw competitions. His strange personality; that of a tough, socially awkward hard-working man attempting to improve his life, results in conflict with criminals and problems with the chain of command in the police department. The story is funny, action-packed, thought-provoking and contains some romance. The detective gets a new girlfriend, and the bad guys are put out of business. As with all of Duane’s stories, the “hero” is a morally upright man, trying to do the right thing in bad situations.
