Brother Lawrence was a 17th Century Carmelite friar, this title contains his compiled works, in it he explains his method for acquiring the presence of God and his mystical journey to the Divine. Christians since its first publishing have been touched the simplicity of Brother Lawrences writings and approach to the Divine where he stresses that while at first one must have discipline and diligence in approaching God, but that once found we can always find his love inside us without difficulty. Brother Lawrence also stresses the same example found in St Therese of Lisieux's "Autobiography of a Soul" that God is pleased in not what we do but the spirit in which we do things, no matter how big or small the task when offered to God as a sacrifice he is pleased.
