It is the author's contention that only Evangelical Universalism can offer a cogent theodicy to resolve the problem of evil. For the last fifteen hundred years the church had been embroiled in a theological conflict between those who emphasize the love of God and those who emphasize divine sovereignty. But the author has identified the true culprit in the irreconcilable disputation. It is the erroneous doctrine of endless torment. The author identifies the Manichaean underpinnings of this error and proves at last how, once recognized and eradicated, the road will be cleared for a reunification of the entire church in ways that have been, until now, undreamed of.
